Comments: "Hey, RAVsters... I've owned my black beauty for six weeks now,
and, although it's been only 1500 miles, I'm totally in love. I've always
been a fan of the RAV4 (my sister had a silver 4-door '97), but the redesign
for 2001 was what really caught my eye. My only complaint was that I just
didn't care for the look of the grey-only overfenders... other than that, I
was all ready to buy. Well, that one minor gripe was addressed in 2002 (way
to go, Toyota... the "monochrome" look works wonders for ALL the colors), so
I decided to mark my 40th birthday by treating myself to a new vehicle. The
RAV was a great choice; it's an amazing all-around vehicle.
PROS: There's
so much to love about this little vehicle that I could go on for pages...
suffice it to say, the finer points are the superb handling, superior
brakes,

great gas mileage, remarkable cargo capacity (especially considering
the RAV's compact outside dimensions), terrific driving position, abundant
head and leg room for all 6'3" of me, and the coolest SUV styling in ANY
class. And I have to say: I'm a huge fan of those cool amber gauges...
CONS: Although the RAV does a great job at "point-and-squirt" driving around
town, the engine could use a little more punch... hills really tax the
little engine that could. (I know, I know... the trade-off is that
excellent gas mileage.) I've got a few rattles that are very
uncharacteristic of a new Toyota, but nothing too annoying. The factory
installed Stereo/CD/Tape unit is satisfactory, but I would have gladly paid
an upcharge for a better sound system. And, as much as I love the Black,
Toyota is notorious for having a lousy color selection."
