Now all I have to do is work out how to put those neat links or pics in here.... |
It appears that the AU version has a shield over the entire system.

The Aussies have a shield that we can't get

Any chance of getting a P/N from a local dealer for this shield??

Ah yes, I see what you’re talking about. It’s right under the driver’s door and yep, it needs protecting.
I’ll fabricate a guard out of thick aluminum or stainless steel, it depends on what I can find at work (industrial maintenance). |

Or just wait for the Aussie Toyota Part number for the Toyota guard in the picture. |

I took the guard off and found some numbers on it, they appear to be Toyota Part Numbers....any guru's out there that know?

The sheild

What holds it on, the bolts need a 12mm socket if that helps with the size.

With the sheild removed

The 77641-42040 is the right format for other parts that I've ordered, it would be worth a try, I'll check tomorrow.
Thanks!!

Great job
It is interesting that the shield is referenced in the shop manual as "NO 1 FLOOR UNDER COVER" (see link) The component in discussion here is called the CANISTER FILTER.
Begs the question why is this not installed on current US RAV's? Are we missing something we should have on our RAV's?
Fuel Tank Components
Now all of us on the top half of the world need to do is figure out how to get one. With Tim on the job it shouldn't take long
Thanks for all your effort |

No surprise here, that part number isn't good according to my Toyota parts guy here in town, I'll send and email to Jacque at Toyota of Dallas, but I doubt he'll find it too.
Maybe Canada??

Can you forward the PDF I attached to the previous post and see if they can reference off the drawings "NO 1 FLOOR UNDER COVER"? |

Nope, I described the part name, the page it was on in the svc manual and still zilch, he even did a search in his parts program for the first 5 digits of the part number and then the part name, nada! Maybe Jacque will have better luck.
FWIW, there is a metal shield over the components ahead of the fuel tank, maybe there was a design change after the svc manual was created and the changed part didn't cover the canister filter or hoses. |

The metal shield covers the canister.
Link to discription.
Emissions Canister
The mystery continues..also the "part number" might have another couple of digits (not that it helps with your parts guy) ==> 77641-42040-28
Any Canadian RAV owners care to look under the driverside door and see if the Canister filter has a shield over it or not?? |
