I replaced my horns yesterday with a pair from AutoZone. I can't stand the "Road Runner" horn.......the replacements are much better. Not as deep as say a Cadillac horn.....they sound more like an Italian sports car.

I put the Freeway Blasters on last week, not much room in the OEM location, but with a little trimming on the horn bell and reshaping of the supplied mounting brackets, they mounted Ok. 130Db for $15 each, 1 high, 1 low tone, they use the same flat terminal as the OEM horns, so no wiring changes were needed.

Buy the RAV4 and plan on changing the horn if it is a manhood/womenhood issue! I have tried a few in test drives and it is pathetic. But the truck is nice and a bargin I think.

I just used my horn for the first time the other day. Sounded like the Road Runner Cartoon. Meep Meep... Don't think I'll be scaring anyone to jump out of the way with that... Confused

Laughing LOL- I just used my horn a couple of weeks ago and I was quite embarassed. I had no idea what to expect. I had a Tacoma before and that had a mean horn...so when I heard the sound on the Rav, it was quite unexpected. I felt embarassed for honking. LOL

With that said, I would never not chose a car because of its whimpy horn sound. I still love my Rav. Smile

According to the tech manual, there are 2 horns, high and low pitched.

I've never heard the horn of the 4.1 or the 4.3, but i do like mine Very Happy.. to me, it sounds pretty bold. I try using it anytime i can, of course, with a reason, like when someone gets on my lane cuz i'm in their blind spot Rolling Eyes. I came from a country where a car horn is a really necessary and useful tool Twisted Evil
