| thev6dude. Alot of the swirls could be from washing with debris in the wash cloth- according to my web searching. And yes Autogeek is the place for lots of info. I too have a 08 rav and am looking for the rights stuff to keep it shiny. Good luck. |

As such these marks are not at all noticeable even when viewed closely in normal daylight. Just those really sunny days, it is visible. I dont even think they're deep. My car was never machined washed. So its just caused by improper handwash. |

Oc's link brought back my memories of working at Gassman Automotive. The boss's policy was bascily if it was worked on it gets a COURTESY WASHING, and since I was at the bottom of the totem pole (I was an "earthworm" ) I has to do the "washing". I was shown how, and that link is very close to how I was tought. However I don't think the link told how (in what order) to wash your car....
1st-wet entire car in shaded area
2nd-clean wheels with brush, and T&W (tire and wheel) cleaner; hose off
3rd-begin washing painted surfaces first, doing only one body panal at a time-from the highest pannal to lowest (IE. roof, rinse, then hood, rinse, trunk, rinse, and so on)
4th-rinse entire car again-from roof down
5th-take a chamolious (shammy) and dry car from roof down-in parrall strokes, not circles; wring out shammy ever 5-6 strokes
6th-drive car around the block...briskly; then shammy up any more water
7th-stare at it unill dry
Thats how I was told (order to wash) to wash a car...the link sums up everything else in deatil. I got real good; I can wash a car like in that link, and in my order in about 35-60 minutes, depending on how large the car was.
I have a pic in my album of my Rav4, and if you look at the hood you can see oxyadation.

Hey Rav4jptrk -
At least the dealer you worked for was conscientious enough to show you the proper way.......bringing your car to most dealerships these days is like saying "I'll have an order of scratches and swirlmarks!" No complimentary post-service washes for this guy, and I always let 'em know that ahead of time! _________________ OC |

I worked for no "dealer"....Gassman Automotive is a world renowned automotive restoration shop. I, last summer had the luckly opportunity to work there through the many people and friends who know me - helped me to get a job there, even though it was only a summer job. (now that "summer job" has helped me get 3 more jobs and probly many more)
If you want to know more about the hea hea - "dealer" I worked for last summer, heres their website....http://www.gassmanautomotive.com/page.php?name=home _________________ http://www.youtube.com/Lifesgoodhere
