Yeah, GM's tend to have a harder clearcoat, Japanese clears tend to be softer.......both have their advantages and disadvantages.
Here's a good article on dealing with white single stage paints.........

The only thing I know about painting is that it's my wife's job.
I'm staring out the window at my Canadian 2008 Alpine White RAV4 Base, and I swear it has clearcoat. It's so shiny, and it's never seen wax.
Is there any way to find out for sure?
Ask the salesman? (Snort, snort, chuckle, chuckle) |

| For the link - now I know more than I ever wanted to. However, if single-stage white paint is so hard, why does Toyota's FC40 scratch so easily? |

Not all whites are single stage, some are clear coated. To check, get a cleaner type wax or sealant, rub it in the finish, and see if your applicator gets some white, hazy residue in it. If it does, you have single stage. _________________ OC |

Can't answer that one, TaxiGuy, not familiar with the small handful of modern single stage paints, just don't see them that often. You would think that with it's thicker mil thickness it would be more scratch resistant........ _________________ OC |
